The Committee recommends that the Australian Securities and Investment Commission update RG 271 Internal Dispute Resolution to provide further guidance on what constitutes a complaint and how complaints should be recorded. The goal should be to ensure that the definition of an internal dispute is set at a level that captures appropriately serious disputes and that this threshold is applied consistently across all insurers.
